What Are the Three Basic Types of Golf Bags?

Do you know what kind of golfer you are? Are you the type of golfer who like to walk the course or maybe you prefer to ride on a golf cart? Once you decide how you want to play, you need to decide on which type of golf bag to use. There are three types of golf bags: carry bag, stand bag, and the cart bag.

Carry bags are light in weight and can only hold a few clubs. Typically the carry bag would only be use for the walking golfer. Why you ask only walking golfers because carry bags are much too small to strap into a riding cart or a push/pull cart. Most come equipped with a couple pockets for your golf balls and tees. One padded shoulder strap for carrying.

Stand bags are average in weight usually around five to six pounds and carry up to fourteen clubs. This type is for the walking golfer and one could use the stand bag on a riding cart but it doesn't strap in very tight and you risk the chance of your clubs falling off the cart. Stand bags can also be strapped into a push/pull cart but you still run into the risk of it falling off because they don't strap in very tight. Stand bags come equipped with many accessory pockets, padded shoulder strap, and two retractable legs to hold it up right at a forty five degree angle and a padded protected bottom to help prevent anything from happening while sitting on the ground. Just remember the more accessories you put into the bag the heavier it gets.

Cart bags are heavy and not made for carrying. Cart bags are more of a luxury bag. They hold up to fourteen clubs with individual slots for each. They come equip with a lot of accessory pockets for your balls, tees, cell phone, gloves, umbrella, and there is still room for just about anything you would possibly need on the course. Some even come with a cooler for your beverages. The bonus of this type is that it can also be used by the walking golfer. All one would need is to get them self’s a push/pull cart.

Carry bags, stand bags, and cart bags are the three basic types of bags. Be wise in choosing the correct golfbag because the bag is one of the most important components of a golfer’s arsenal.

Golf Bag Carts: Why a Golfer Needs One

Do you like to walk the golf course? Tired of the hassle of carrying your clubs on your shoulders? Golfers have options when deciding how they want to transport their golf bags during a round of golf. An easy method is in the back of a gas powered cart, or a push/pull cart and a labor-intensive method is carrying the golf club bag. Push/pull carts are designed to hold the club bag, and are typically used by players when walking the course to relieve them from the stress of the weight of the golf club bag.
Most golf push/pull carts are very sturdy and at the same time light weight usually containing three wheels, with two wheels at the back and one wheel at the front. Some push-style golf bag carts are battery powered and may be operated via buttons on the cart or by a remote control. The modern three and four wheeled golf push carts look and perform like high performance athletic equipment. Most of these modern push/pull carts are equipped with a bottle holder, ball holders, and tee holders. Some even have a flat surface to hold your scorecard and a pencil holder. Most push and pull bag carts can be folded, allowing for easy storage and travel, although the battery-operated push carts are very heavy.
Pull carts have only two wheels while the bottom of the cart sits on the ground, preventing it from moving until you grab the handle, effectively lifting the bottom of the cart and freeing the wheels for travel.
Push carts have three wheels and most come equipped with brakes. Generally push carts are easier to use because the third wheel gives the cart better support for the golf club bag and ease of versatility in maneuvering the cart in different directions.
If you are the person who loves to walk the course and are tired of struggling to make all way around the course because the weight of your golf bag is just too much, than you need a push/pull golf bag cart. If you're still unsure if this is the way you would like to go then may I suggest that next time you go out for a round of golf, you try renting one of these great push/pull carts from the club house. After that one time use and you see just how easy it is to get around the course I am sure you will get yourself one.

The Future of Golf Bags

The game of golf has been around for a very long time, with no immediate signs of letting up. With new advances being made in golf equipment, such as improvements made to golfbags, the future of the game is looking brighter than ever. How much different will the game of golf be in 50 years? Will there be any significant changes to golf bags, or will it maintain its current state of effectiveness? Obviously I can’t predict the future, but everybody can make a guess.
Golf has already changed so much in recent years. It seems every year they are releasing new golf equipment that is supposed to be better than anything that had been released before. Just think about the progression of the golf club bags. Golfers first started out simply binding their clubs together and carrying them around. Over the years, the bag has evolved so much that you do not even need to carry it anymore.  Golf bag carts allow the golfer to simply pull their bag around with them on wheels with little resistance. This allows people who are unable to enjoy a round of nine holes due to physical ailments or other issues to golf. Even if bag carts were too much to pull, there are now robotic carts as well as regular pull carts for golfers to use. It is these kinds of changes to the game of golf that will propel the game into the future and assure that it will remain a popular leisure activity.
Just by looking at the progression of golf club bags, you can see that improvements to the game have increased as the popularity of the sport increases. With more people golfing, the market for bags and equipment grows as well. As the market increases with revenue, demand for golf equipment will increase as well. Basic economics of a capitalist system then tells us that if there is a demand for golf club bag carts, the supply will meet the demands so that both the buyer and the producer can benefit. Even though the economy has been going through some tough times, the basic principles of economics will hold true, and golf club bags will continue to improve as long as there is a demand for it.
Surely, the game of golf does not appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. The improvements to golf club bags and even golf bag carts prove that the game is still in a high demand. If consumers were not willing to buy golf bags, there would be no logic in investing money into creating better golf equipment. This simple fact alone proves that the traditional sport of golf will be around for a while. Hopefully this article has opened your eyes to the ever changing game of golf, and the implementations to the game that have made it more accessible to more people. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and get yourself some of that great golf equipment.

Golf Equipment - What Equipment You Will Need to Start a Round of Golf

With every different golfer there lies a different way to approach the game. Some golfers modify their swings or use different types of golf balls, but most golfers simply change the content of their golf bag equipment. The golf bag is an essential part to every golfer and holds all the equipment and accessories that a golfer may need. Depending on what type of golf bag one has depends on the amount of equipment they could carry, but a few important things can get anybody ready for a round of golf.
First of all, you need the most important pieces of golf equipment in the bag, the golf clubs. The Professional Golfers Association defines the legal amount of clubs in the bag to not exceed 14. Though you could bring more to a casual game of nine holes, but most tournaments tend to rely on the PGA standards. It is easy to understand that the more equipment you have, the more versatile your game is, which makes caring the maximum amount of equipment necessary.
A typical set up of clubs would include:

  • Driver
  • 3-wood
  • 5-wood
  • 3 iron through 9 iron
  • Pitching wedge
  • Sand wedge
  • Lob wedge
  • Putter

Once the golfer has their arsenal of their favorite clubs chosen, it would be time to think about packing different kinds of golf equipment into their bags. Almost as important as the clubs, golf balls are also very important to have for a round on the course. Some golfers only carry a few golf balls, while others carry up to two dozen per round of eighteen holes. After the golf balls are packed, all a golfer would really need after that is some tees and a scorecard. While this is the bare minimum of equipment that you will need, it is all one would really need to enjoy a round of golf.

Remember, golf club bags are meant to hold a lot of golf accessories, so do not be limited to whatever you can fit in there. Most golfers carry many other things in their bags other than golf clubs and golf balls. As stated before, every golfer has a different approach to the game even when it comes down to the contents of their golf bag. Every golfer should remember this while getting ready for a round of golf. Think of the golfers bag as an arsenal of weapons, and the golfer as the brave soldier.

Beginners Golf Equipment

It is not difficult to assess that the game of golf is not going anywhere. The game has been around for a very long time and the golf equipment, well, its only gaining in popularity as history progresses. However, if a person were to gain interest in the game later in life, it may be slightly difficult for them to get started. It is true that most professional golfers have been golfing since they could hold a club, but not everybody is that lucky.  With just a few pieces of golf equipment, perseverance, dedication, and knowledge of the game one would be able to start their own golf experience.

One will need to dedicate time and money to the game as well as research on the fundamentals. The first way you could go is to start small and work your way up through the golf equipment. A full set of golf clubs and multiple golf bags are not necessary to get your fundamentals engraved. Some golf accessories you will need to start off are a wedge and a putter. These clubs are generally the easiest to learn with and allow the golfer to practice their stroke. Learning how to approach a green and putt are half of the game, so it is important to master these skills early. Many ranges and golf courses have practice greens which you can experiment with. Another great idea is to purchase golf lessons from any experienced golf instructor to ensure that you are mastering the fundamentals of your swing.

Once you have put some time at the range with your pitching wedge, it will be time to expand your arsenal. You can still buy one club at a time, but once you feel comfortable with the wedge, you can move onto a regular set of golf clubs. Golf equipment such as this can be purchased in golf pro shops, sports equipment stores, and even the Internet. The easiest thing to do is search online to find what set of clubs you are looking for. The Internet is full of online stores that sell golf equipment and golf accessories at discount prices.

Once you have attained your first golf set, spend some more time at the range honing your skills on your newly acquired golf equipment. Hitting a wedge is not the same as hitting a 5 iron, so you will need to hit some balls to get the motion down. When you have gone through the clubs and feel confident to step onto the golf course, then go play yourself a round of golf. In these early stages people like to golf in small groups or alone to focus on their game and golfing to their ability.

Experiment with different golf equipment to find the perfect set and the game will only get more enjoyable. In no time you will be a contender in the next golf tournament and get to display your newly acquired love for the game of golf. The History of Golf Bags

All through out the history of golf, golf bags have paralleled the progression of the game. The birth of the game began in Scotland, but if you were to go back that far in history you would see that the golf bag was not even in existence. Back then most of the golfers would carry their clubs over their shoulders bound together with some kind of rope or twine. In fact, in 1457 the Scottish army banned golf almost right away because they didn't believe that carring around just clubs was enough physical exercise without a golf bag. Luckily in 1502 the ban was lifted and the game of golf would become a recognized sport and past time.

In was not until the late 19th century when the first golf bag would be invented. The bag was made out of leather canvas and stood 35 inches high, had metal ends for protection and shape with a opening at one end for your clubs. This bag, which was called the small mouth, would be used all way until the 1930s.

It was not until after World War II that the golf bag began to evolve. For most golfer the small mouth was much to small because it typically could only carry a small amount of golf clubs. As the game evolved more clubs were introduced to the golfer to give them a arsenal to attack the greens. As the game of golf changed, so too did the golf bag. With more clubs being introduced a new golf bag also needed to be introduced. Lightweight materials such as nylon and plastics would replace the leather materials. These materials would make the bag easier to carry, fit more clubs, and even include extra space to store golf balls, gloves, and even books.

Then in 1956 the golf cart was introduced and golf bags lost popularity. The golf cart made it much easier to get around and play the round of golf faster. With all of the improvements to the golf bag, they were still hard to carry around. So to answer the threat of the golf cart creators began to implement should straps and tripods to make it easier to walk around the course. As well as adding straps and tripods to the bags, they also molded bottoms on to the golf bags to make them easier to store on the golf carts. Even in today's world you can see these improvements on golf bags.

As for the modern golf club bags, the limits are endless. There are many different types and styles of golf bags to fit every golfers needs. Now, golf bags are bigger, weigh less, more durable, fashionable, and even have accessory compartments. Most important, golf bag are still the symbol of the great game we call golf.

Surely you can see though out history how golf bags have changed and improved with the game of golf. Just think that the first golf bag started from a small piece of leather is quite incredible. As history has shown when the game of golf changes, so too will golf bags.
